One of our patients, Ann Rawlinson, recently received dental implant treatment at Blossom Dental Care, so we caught up with her to see how she found the treatment, and her thoughts on her new smile.

Why did Ann need dental implants?

Ann, who has been a patient at Blossom Dental Care for the past 5 years, has experienced problems with her teeth ever since she was a child. Now, at 73 years old, her teeth were getting progressively weaker with two teeth even falling out.

This led to Ann becoming conscious of her teeth, even covering her mouth with her hand when she laughed.

To fix the gaps in her teeth, and allow her to laugh freely again, our clinical director James Harrison suggested Ann opt for dental implant treatment.

Ann’s new smile

Due to the poor condition of her remaining teeth, we decided it would be best to extract these and start again with a new blueprint for Ann’s smile. On the same day that the teeth were extracted the dental implants were placed and Ann was fitted with a fantastic set of fixed natural-looking temporary teeth, meaning she was not left with a gap at any stage. After three months the temporary teeth were replaced with permanent ones that looked fantastic.

Ann was thrilled with both the final results and her experience at Blossom Dental Care, saying, “I am feeling confident now – people have commented that I’m smiling much more”.

“I used to be terrified of the dentist but James was fantastic and made sure I knew what was happening every step of the way during my treatment. I experienced very little pain, if any at all, and didn’t have to take any painkillers after my implants were fitted.

“Not only have my missing teeth been replaced, but their appearance is so much better now than they were before. To anyone considering dental implant treatment, all I can say is don’t be scared!”
