Q. How often do I need a hygiene appointment?
This depends on your individual needs.
-
Q. How much time does a hygiene appointment take?

-
Q. Why are hygiene appointments so important?
At Blossom Family Dental Care, York, we believe that thorough dental hygiene is the cornerstone of good oral health. Regular visits to our hygienists ensure that plaque is removed and signs of gum disease and other dental problems are picked up earlier rather than later. Our expert hygienists also provide professional advice on caring for your teeth and gums at home.
-
Q. Will my gums bleed?
Gums bleed when bacteria accumulates around teeth and causes infection. The body’s natural response is to send more blood to the area to fight the infection hence bleeding when you brush your teeth. Although bleeding from the gums is relatively common that doesn’t mean it’s not important to speak to a dental professional about it. If your gums bleed during a hygiene appointment or when brushing at home it’s a sign of infection that needs to be treated. Our hygienists will advise on this during your appointment.

Q. What if I feel nervous about visiting the hygienist?
Our hygienists have lots of experience in treating nervous patients and will do everything they can to put you at ease. They have perfected extremely gentle techniques in plaque removal and teeth and gum cleaning.
